We’ll keep things short today. Release day creeps ever closer, now just five days away. For today, enjoy a snippet that mentions a name not used in the first book. Who could this mysterious new character be?

Rowan was here. My mind almost didn’t want to believe it, but the proof stood in front of me. Over a year after he left, after he abandoned me in that hotel room with just a passport, flight tickets, and some money — here he was. Conflicting emotions surged in my chest, struggling to overcome the complete apathy coursing through me in my exhausted state. I squinted at him. He was here. He was actually here. My lips parted. “Rowan?”

He nodded, stepping forward. “Yes. You —” He froze, gaze snagging on the door behind me.

I shook off the fatigue and turned. Another aura, this one also familiar, approached fast. Realization crashed into me and my eyes widened. Both auras flared with power. This wouldn’t be good. I backed up into the middle of the room and as the door flew open, I raised my right hand, aimed towards Kaden, and left my injured side facing Rowan, filling the space between them, putting my faith in neither of them wanting to go through me. “Don’t attack!”
