Hello everyone! Can you believe February is almost over already?

March is just around the corner, which means we only have a little over one month to wait before Demon Trials releases on Amazon in Kindle, paperback, and audiobook formats. As of yesterday, formatting is complete, and I’ll have the proof copy in my hands on Friday to check if I need to make any last-minute tweaks. Everything is on track for launch day — April 2nd!

To celebrate, I’ve plucked part of a scene from the book and have decided to share it here.

Rowan’s father stepped aside, leaving most of the stage open for the fight. My opponent wandered towards the rack of weaponry and with a clang, withdrew a longer blade. I eyed it, assessing. A longsword. Good reach and hard-hitting. I needed to avoid that. One slice could cut into vital organs.

I pulled my daggers out of the sheaths hanging off my waist. He would be slower than me with that weapon. Perhaps not by much, but it was something I needed to count on.

He circled me, gaze assessing, like a vulture watching its prey. “You don’t seem too tough.”

I leveled a hard stare at him. “Come at me and find out.”

An annoyed snarl tore from his lips. He moved fast, holding the sword in his right hand as he swung at me from above and to the side in a diagonal slice, blinded by rage. Too easy. I ducked under his swing, flipped the dagger in my hand, and slammed the butt end of the hilt into his diaphragm. He exhaled in a gasp, caught off guard. I didn’t relent. Hooking my foot behind his ankle as he stumbled back, he crashed backwards and hit the ground. I pursued, knees hitting the wooden floor next to him as I pressed the length of my dagger against his throat.

“Submit.”
